Breast augmentation is an aesthetic surgery which involves placement of a correctly sized silicone breast implant to enhance the shape and volume of the breast. The implant is placed through an incision which location is carefully chosen by Dr. Dragana Spica.

Another technique used to enhance breast volume and shape is fat transfer. In this method of breast augmentation, excess fat form a donor area is extracted with liposuction and then transferred to breast to make them fuller, rounder and more symmetrical.

TYPES OF BREAST AUGMENTATION?

The type of breast augmentation depends on the location of the breast implant and the location of the incision.

Location of the breast implant can be:

On the day of your breast augmentation you are prepped for the surgery and given anesthesia.

Dr. Dragana Spica makes the incision and places the breast implant into its predetermined location. She closes the incisions with sutures and may wrap your chest area with bandages or a surgical compression bra. If necessary, she will also place drainage tubes underneath your skin to help with drainage of fluids and blood.

For breast augmentation with fat transfer, Dr. Dragana Spica will first extract fat with liposuction from your donor area. Then the fat will be purified and carefully injected into your breasts. The liposuction incisions will be closed with sutures.

When you feel comfortable, you are discharged from the surgical sites and given all the instructions for the recovery period.

Breast augmentation isn’t painful during the procedure. You may feel mild to moderate discomfort for 2 days after the surgery.

The recovery period lasts for a couple of weeks.

During that time you should avoid doing any strenuous activities.

In the first couple of days, your breast may feel heavy and too large because of the swelling. Also, your breast will be tender to touch, too tight, or too round. Your nipples may feel numb or sensitive. These are normal sensations during the recovery period.

You can return to your normal daily activities after 6 weeks.

You should pay attention to the presence of bruising and swelling, which should subside after several weeks.

Also, you need to keep the surgical site clean to prevent infection.
