A cleaner neckline, naturally.
Neck liposuction, also known as submental lipo, is a specific procedure that removes fat from under the chin and along the upper neck to make the jawline look clearer. It works best when the main problem is fat, not a lot of loose skin or strong neck banding.
Neck lipo targets the area of fat that makes the angle between the chin and neck less clear. A lot of people notice it the most in pictures, video calls, or side profiles, even if their weight stays the same. When that pocket is evenly reduced, the jawline usually looks sharper and the neck looks more streamlined.
The most important thing is to do it in a controlled way. The neck is an area where small bumps and lumps can be seen easily, so the technique focuses on making things smooth as well as reducing them.
Neck lipo can deliver a strong improvement when your skin can contract and the fullness is mainly superficial fat. If the issue is mostly loose skin or muscle banding, lipo alone may not give the “tight” look you’re imagining.
Dr. Kevin Haddad assesses what is actually creating the heaviness: fat, skin laxity, deeper structures, or a combination. That assessment is what prevents disappointment, because the right solution depends on the true cause.
The final neckline looks much better when your skin tone is right. When you lose fat, your skin usually drapes smoothly again if it is firm. If the skin is loose, the neck might still look soft even after fat is taken away because the skin doesn’t snap back the same way.
That’s why planning is based on proportions: the right amount of fat is removed for your skin’s ability to tighten, not the most fat removed.
The process usually includes small access points that are hidden. The fat is taken out in a controlled, even way so that the area looks like it naturally fits in with the jawline and upper neck.
Dr. Kevin Haddad’s main interests are:
The best results are the ones that look like they were made without effort.
Your neck won’t look “final” immediately. Swelling can mask definition early, and firmness can come and go as healing progresses.
Swelling and bruising are common; definition is not reliable yet
Swelling reduces, but the neck may feel firm or uneven in spots
The jawline typically reads clearer; the contour looks smoother and more natural
Subtle refinement can continue as the last swelling settles
Neck lipo tends to shine when the anatomy is straightforward: localised fat, good skin tone, and realistic expectations about what lipo can do.
Temporary swelling, bruising, and tenderness are part of normal healing. Some patients feel temporary numbness or sensitivity changes under the chin while nerves settle. In a small number of cases, minor contour unevenness can occur and usually improves as swelling resolves, but occasionally needs refinement.
The biggest long-term risk to aesthetics is over-treatment: removing too much or creating uneven suction patterns. That’s why measured technique matters more than intensity.
