Filler Dissolving

A medical solution to reduce unwanted hyaluronic acid filler results safely and progressively

It’s not always “too much filler” that’s the problem; sometimes the result just doesn’t sit right anymore. Not every filler result needs to be dissolved, but it can be the right thing to do when things start to look swollen or heavy, the filler seems to have moved, one side doesn’t match the other, or the shape just doesn’t look good on your face anymore.

Some patients also choose to dissolve when they want to start over with a cleaner slate before rebuilding the area with a more conservative plan. Sometimes it’s not about starting over; it’s about getting things back in balance. The goal at Derma One Aesthetic Center isn’t to “erase your face,” but to get rid of only what makes it look unnatural

Which filler types this applies to

Dissolving is primarily used for hyaluronic acid fillers, because they can be reduced with a specific enzyme (hyaluronidase). If a filler is not hyaluronic acid-based, dissolving is not performed in the same way and alternative management may be required. Knowing what product was used, when it was injected, and the treated area is therefore important for safe planning.

What happens during the dissolving session

The enzyme is put in specific places to carefully lower the amount of filler. This is not a “one shot fixes all” kind of treatment. It is usually done with care and accuracy, especially in sensitive areas like under the eyes or lips, where even small changes can make a big difference in how things look.

For a lot of patients, the most important part of the session is that it is planned to make them look better while keeping the tissues stable and natural.

What is normal in the first 48 hours

Right after dissolving, the area can look confusing because swelling and tissue response can temporarily mask the true result. It is common to see short-term changes such as:

This is why early judgement is avoided, and the result is assessed after the tissue has calmed.

Risk awareness without alarm

Filler dissolving is generally safe when performed correctly, but it is still a medical procedure and must be treated with proper care. Potential downsides include dissolving more filler than intended, temporary unevenness while swelling resolves, bruising, and rare sensitivity reactions. The goal is always controlled improvement, not aggressive removal in a single step.

Restoring the “clean look” without losing your natural features

The best dissolving outcomes look simple: lighter, cleaner, and more proportional, without sudden hollowness. At Derma One Aesthetic Center, Dr. Ahmad Othman focuses on restoring balance and natural facial harmony, so the final result looks refined and realistic in everyday lighting.
